The City of New York’s Administration for Children’s Services seeks a Community Coordinator for the Division of Youth and Family Justice to develop and implement cultural, educational, and recreational programs for youth in secure detention and placement settings.

You will collaborate with Youth Development Specialists, contracted providers, and the Department of Education, monitor program effectiveness, and help youth acquire life skills.

Formación

• 1) A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or related duties; or
• 2) High school graduation or equivalent and six years of related experience; or
• 3) Education/experience equivalent to 1 or 2 with at least one year of experience as described in 1.

Responsabilidades

• Work with Youth Development Specialists, contracted providers, and the Department of Education to develop and implement cultural, educational, and recreational programming for Secure Detention youth.
• Work with youth to develop programs that promote teamwork, leadership, problem-solving, and critical thinking.
• Build self-confidence in youth and contribute to violence reduction through activities and relationship-building.
• Encourage healthy lifestyles for youth through sports, physical exercise, and nutrition.
• Support facilities and providers in implementing special projects and events as needed.
• Assess programs via observations and surveys; provide feedback and recommendations.
• Liaise with DYFJ’s contracted programs to ensure vendor clearance and contract compliance.
• Develop monthly provider meetings and annual vendor evaluations.
• Develop new programming modules and train staff and providers to implement them.
• Perform other duties related to youth culture, education, and recreation.
