Job summary

The Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) seeks a dedicated Associate Youth Development Specialist in New York to supervise staff, coordinate services for detained youth, and help implement behavior management programs in secure facilities.

Role involves preparing reports, conducting conferences, and participating in interdisciplinary teams to plan youth placement and safety while meeting agency policies and procedures. This is a 24/7 operation with possible overtime.

Qualifications

• Four-year high school diploma or educational equivalent plus relevant youth work experience.
• Associate degree or 60 credits with related experience may be substituted.
• Bachelor's degree with related experience or coursework in social work, counseling, education, or psychology is common.
• A mix of education and experience substituting for the above is allowed.

Responsibilities

• Assign, supervise, and evaluate Associate Youth Development Specialists.
• Implement and operationalize the behavior management incentive program.
• Review incident reports and notify MCCU per policy.
• Coordinate and deliver services to youth in detention facilities.
• Schedule staff to ensure coverage of direct care units.
• Conduct conferences on policy interpretation and Safe Crisis Management.
• Prepare reports, tasks, standards, and City Time compliance.
• Support youth care plans and requisitions, reviewing staff submissions.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings on youth placement and safety.
