Job summary

DEKALB PARK DISTRICT IL in DeKalb, IL 60115 seeks a Youth Variety Instructor to plan, instruct, monitor, and implement youth programs that support children's development, creativity, social interaction, and learning in a safe, welcoming environment.

The role reports to the Recreation Program Manager and requires certification in Pediatric CPR/AED and First Aid, plus Mandated Reporter training, with a high school diploma or equivalent and eligibility to work 18+.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 18 years of age or older.
• Must be certified in Pediatric CPR/AED and First Aid or obtain within two months.
• Must be a certified Mandated Reporter, or obtain certification within two months.

Responsibilities

• Assist with organization, supervision, and implementation of youth activities and programs.
• Plan, prepare, and execute activity and program schedules in line with goals.
• Supervise children to ensure safety, engagement, and positive participation.
• Be a positive role model with professional behavior, language, and attitude.
• Maintain attendance, incident reports, and other required records.
• Interact professionally with campers, parents/guardians, staff, and the public.
• Support risk management by identifying hazards and following safety procedures.
• Provide first aid as needed.
• Contribute to a positive team environment and engage with campers.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe program site.
• Communicate program needs to the Recreation Program Manager.
