Job summary

The DeKalb Park District seeks an Early Childhood Program Instructor to plan and conduct activities for infants to approximately 5-year-olds in a safe, engaging environment.

The role requires a High School diploma, 18+ years old, CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or within two months), and Mandated Reporter certification (or within two months). It is a part-time, non-exempt position reporting to the Recreation Program Manager.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• 18 years of age or older.
• Must be certified in Pediatric CPR/AED and First Aid or obtain certification within two months.
• Must be a certified Mandated Reporter, or obtain certification within two months.

Responsibilities

• Assist with organization, supervision, and implementation of early childhood activities and programs.
• Help plan, prepare, and execute age-appropriate activities and schedules.
• Supervise children to ensure safety and positive participation.
• Lead activities to promote learning, motor skills and language development.
• Adapt activities to varying development stages and needs.
• Maintain a positive, professional demeanor and environment.
• Maintain attendance, incident reports, and other records.
• Interact professionally with participants, parents/guardians, staff and the public.
• Follow safety procedures and identify hazards.
• Provide first aid as needed.
• Contribute to a safe, organized program site.
• Communicate program needs to Recreation Program Manager.
• Follow district policies and emergency procedures.
