Job summary

Rose E. Schneider Family YMCA in Cranberry Township, PA is seeking a Program Coordinator to assist with swim lessons, sports and activities coordination. This role supports a cause-centered culture dedicated to youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

The position requires a High School diploma, 18+ years old, and relevant experience in childcare and swim instruction with certifications needed within 6 months. Evening and weekend programming are part of the schedule.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; required.
• Minimum age of 18; required.
• Minimum 2 years experience working with children; required.
• Minimum 2 years of swim lesson instruction; preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of sports, coaching, or programming related experience; preferred.
• American Red Cross or YMCA Lifeguard Certification, CPR for the Professional Rescuer/First Aid/AED; required.
• YMCA Swim Instructor Certification within 6 months of employment; preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills; required.

Responsibilities

• Assist Director/Manager in training, scheduling, and overseeing assigned staff and volunteers.
• Assist with planning, prep, and implementation of Special Events.
• Assist with art & humanities, STEM and sports planning and development.
• Assist with swim lessons; fill in for staff when needed.
• Coordinate and schedule birthday party inquiries and reservations; fill in for staff when needed.
• Ensure Health and Safety of all children in the program; implement Emergency Procedures as necessary.
• Coordinate facility usage and transport/set up equipment for Sports, Programs and Special Events.
• Communicate weekly instructor curriculum to program staff.
• Maintain program areas, equipment, safety, inventory, and cleanliness.
• Serve as liaison between instructors, participants, volunteers and parents.
• Coordinate and supervise program activities that align with YMCA values.
• Organize and conduct sports clinics and camps; e.g., volleyball, basketball, pickleball.
• Officiate, coach and supervise sport programs.
• Organize and conduct parent and coach orientation meetings and training.
• Maintain up-to-date participant, volunteer, and program records; facility (gym) schedules.
• Ensure goals of fun, teamwork, sportsmanship and skill development are met weekly.
• Develop and maintain positive relations with members and staff.
• Enforce rules and behavior expectations of the area.
• Secure and schedule facilities for each sport season; transport and set-up equipment.
• Maintain program areas and adhere to standards re equipment, storage, safety, and cleanliness.
• Respond to member and community inquiries and complaints promptly.
• Attend staff meetings as required.
• Follow YMCA policies and procedures, including medical, disciplinary, child abuse prevention and emergency procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
