Boys & Girls Clubs of the Peninsula (BGCP) proudly stands as the largest expanded learning provider in San Mateo County, dedicated to empowering 5,400 TK-College students across 29 sites from East Palo Alto to Daly City. POSITION OVERVIEW
The Youth Program Leader is responsible for leading a classroom to deliver safe and effective learning environments for students through teaching, facilitation, and coordination. This role will provide you with valuable professional development and personal growth opportunities as you will have the chance to work with different grade bands (TK-8). This role reports to the Associate Site Director and is for those who are available to work 5 days a week during the school year in one of our Redwood City sites. Drawing upon best practices in youth development, you will guide students to build academic and life skills in a meaningful, fun context.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Manage a classroom of approximately 10-20 students per 1 staff
  2. Provide academic mentoring and homework assistance
  3. Lead students through academic activities
  4. Adapt lesson plans for delivering enrichment classes and clubs (art, cooking, STEM, fitness, etc.)
  5. Conduct life skills and team-building activities
  6. Communicate with parents/guardians, school staff, and BGCP leadership
  7. Engage in weekly check-ins and participate in staff meetings
  8. Maintain a positive, safe, productive work environment
  9. Participate in supporting special events and field trips
  10. Attend training and professional development opportunities
  11. Perform additional relevant duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Commitment to BGCP’s mission and vision and working with TK-8 youth
  2. Experience building relationships with diverse youth communities and constituents
  3. Ability to motivate through positive reinforcement
  4. Strong communication skills
  5. Flexible in navigating a fast-paced environment
  6. Preferred one year of experience working with TK-8 youth
  7. Spanish fluency is a plus

LOCATION
Sunshine Gardens Elementary School

WORK SCHEDULE

  1. 24-29 hours per week
  2. Five days a week, Monday through Friday
  3. Hours vary by site:
  4. Generally, 2:00pm to 6:30pm (Exception: either Wednesday or Thursday 12:30pm to 6:30pm)
  5. Starting time for TK/K may be earlier
  6. Weekly team meeting + additional professional development trainings

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  1. Employment Status: Part-Time, Non-Exempt
  2. Pay Range: $22-25/hr, depending on experience (DOE)
  3. Retirement Benefits: BGCP offers salary contributions to the 401(k) plan

As part of the hiring process, BGCP requires candidates to complete a LiveScan fingerprinting, background check, and tuberculosis (TB) test.
