Job summary

Rock Spot Climbing is looking for Youth Program Instructors in South Boston, Virginia, who will provide excellent customer service to students and their families by conducting weekly classes and special programs. Instructors will work under the supervision of the Program and Gym Managers.

The ideal candidate should have a friendly personality, be detail-oriented, and possess experience in teaching sports or hands-on skills. This role involves working in a team environment and engaging with students professionally.

Youth Program Instructors at Rock Spot Climbing are responsible for providing excellent customer service to young students and their families by running weekly classes and special programming at our facilities. Youth Program instructors work under the supervision of the Program and Gym Managers of their facilities.

Roles And Responsibilities

• First Class Customer Service - Maintain a safe, positive, and productive learning atmosphere for a 10 week session.
• High Quality Instruction - Teach hard skills as well as technique in a small group setting, while managing the flow of activities/learning during class and week to week.
• Professional Communication - Interact regularly and professionally with students and parents.
• Personalized Lesson Planning - Implement and monitor lesson plans and curriculum while adapting and modifying lessons based on the needs of individual students.
• Terrific Teamwork - Operate as part of a team and be able to perform all floor staff functions.

Qualifications And Skills

• Outgoing, friendly personality
• Schooling in education, recreation, or a related field preferred
• Previous indoor rock climbing and belaying experience
• Experience teaching/coaching a hands on skill or sport
• Experience working with youth of all ages
• Experience creating or implementing lesson plans
• Ability to work nights/weekends
• Ability to engage an audience
• Ability to enforce rules and regulations
• Detail oriented and organized
• Punctual and reliable
• CPR and First Aid (or willing to acquire)

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs
