Job summary

YMCA of Greater Hartford is seeking a Youth Program Associate to run developmental activities and safe, engaging youth programs. You will work as part of a team under the Youth Development Director, helping implement age-appropriate curricula and promote positive experiences for participants.

The role emphasizes teamwork, communication with parents, and adherence to YMCA policies, with duties spanning planning, supervising activities, and assisting with facility safety.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age.
• Commitment to YMCA mission and core values: caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
• Prior experience implementing a variety of youth and adult programs.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to effectively problem solve utilizing all resources available.

Responsibilities

• Participate in training.
• Assist in implementing age-appropriate developmental curriculum.
• Serve as a resource for clinics.
• Share ideas and concerns with your supervisor.
• Maintain open communication with parents and families about youth in the program.
• Support a safe, clean environment following YMCA guidelines.
• Handle and transport materials and equipment as needed.
• Ensure programs are delivered with quality and innovation.
• Attend branch and Metropolitan meetings as requested.
• Contribute to YMCA goals for Youth Development, Healthy Living, Member Experience, and Social Responsibility.
• Engage actively with youth in the program.
