Job summary

YMCA of Greater Hartford is seeking a Youth Development Coordinator to oversee youth sports and development programming at the branch under the Youth Development Director. The role involves developing curricula, scheduling, training part-time staff, and delivering direct instruction to participants.

You will engage families, collaborate with schools and community partners, and help expand access to programs while upholding YMCA values and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a positive, professional role model for youth participating in YMCA programs.
• Oversee youth sports and youth development program planning, curriculum development, scheduling, registration, implementation, and evaluation.
• Provide timely, clear, and professional communication to participants and families before and during programs; share relevant program updates with branch and Association staff.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with parents, caregivers, and members to develop high-quality programs aligned with the YMCA’s mission and core values.
• Identify opportunities to collaborate with local schools, community organizations, and other partners to expand access to facilities, services, and programming.
• Explore new program opportunities and potential funding sources to support youth development initiatives.
• Provide friendly, courteous, and responsive service while building positive professional relationships with participants, families, staff, partner organizations, and the community.
• Promote and maintain a safe, clean, welcoming, and inclusive environment for participants, staff, and visitors.
• Attend branch and Association meetings as assigned or requested.
• Maintain current knowledge of YMCA policies and procedures, risk management standards, safety practices, and applicable laws and regulations.
• Supervise, schedule, train, and support part-time program staff, and provide direct instruction as needed.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
