Job summary

New Avenues for Youth in East Portland seeks an Outreach Specialist to support youth facing houselessness, guiding them to resources and opportunities that lead to healthy, independent lives. You’ll build trusted relationships, navigate complex systems, and coordinate with community partners to move clients toward meaningful goals.

The role offers a supportive team, ongoing training, and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology or related field is a plus.
• Experience with youth who face multiple barriers.
• Coordinate stationary and street outreach with team and partners.
• Produce digital engagement tools (videos, social posts, etc.).
• Excellent communication, organization, creativity, flexibility, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work with diverse staff and youth in a multi-cultural environment.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and access to insured vehicle.
• CPR training and certification required.
• Ability to assess risk in varying environments using triage.

Responsibilities

• Build Community with youth and East Portland through outreach, resource navigation, and service coordination with partners.
• Empower through advocacy: help youth navigate systems, access resources, and collaborate with providers.
• Support growth and learning: lead activities, provide referrals, and education around services.
• Document the journey: maintain accurate records for program data.
