Job summary

The YMCA is seeking a seasonal YCAP Assistant to tutor and mentor at-risk youth aged 10-14 as part of the Youth Community Action Project in the Chattanooga area.

You will implement daily lesson plans, observe and document progress, and build constructive relationships with families, staff, and diverse communities. The role supports personal growth and community service within a structured program.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Some college preferred.

Responsibilities

• Be a positive role model.
• Assist with schoolwork.
• Provide behavioral guidance.
• Implement daily lesson/activity plans within established guidelines.
• Make ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child.
• Maintain positive relationships and effective communication with parents/guardians.
• Maintain required program records, such as sign-in/sign-out rosters.
• Attend and participate in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training.
• Develop positive, authentic relationships with people from diverse backgrounds.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
