Job summary

Greater Philadelphia YMCA is seeking an experienced childcare professional for the 2026-2027 school year. The role supports children’s learning, fosters a caring environment, and participates in a community-focused program on-site at an assigned childcare site.

Applicants should have a degree in education or related field and at least 2 years of verified childcare experience. Clearances and trainings must be kept up to date; the role includes schedule flexibility and YMCA benefits.

Qualifications

• Degree from an accredited college or university in an education or human services related field.
• 2+ years verified child care experience (2500 hours).
• Passionate about working with children in a fun, diverse environment.
• Ability to pass all relevant clearances and trainings updated.

Responsibilities

• Find engaging ways to help kids learn while maintaining a safe environment that builds self-esteem.
• Plan and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum with positive behavior management.
• Record weekly observations and address any behavior concerns with families.
• Communicate effectively with parents about progress while maintaining confidentiality.
• Maintain attendance records, emergency binders, and required paperwork on time.
• Keep learning centers stocked and organized with materials.
• Attend monthly or more team-planning meetings.
• Support Annual Campaign by engaging donors and volunteers.

What is needed for this job

• Achievement of a degree from an accredited college or university in an education or human services related field

The responsibilities we will trust you with:

• Finding new and engaging ways to help kids learn, while maintaining control of environments that build children’s self esteem
• Implement and plan curriculum for program; ensuring child centered and developmentally appropriate learning experiences throughout classrooms using positive reinforcement for behavioral management
• Conduct and record weekly child observations as well as any related to child behavior concerns or development that may require early intervention with parents/guardians
• Being patient and kind with our parents/guardians, communicating effectively and in a timely manner regarding children’s program experience, progress (written as well as verbal) while maintaining confidentiality and sensitivity
• Accurately maintain daily attendance records, emergency contact binders, and allergy reports, as well compliant paperwork within timesheets, incident reports, weekly reports, and child observation reports
• Ensure centers are maintained with quality learning materials, organized accordingly in labeled containers associated with appropriate learning center
• Attend team-planning meetings monthly or more as needed
• Actively campaign for the Annual Campaign an work to develop donors and volunteers
