Job summary

Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Salt Lake in Murray, Utah, is hiring Youth Development Professionals (YDP) to guide teens aged 13-18 through engaging, age-appropriate activities. The role centers on helping youth achieve academic success, good character, and healthy lifestyles.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must pass criminal background check, MVR check, and drug screening.
  • 21 years of age or older to meet driving requirements.
  • Willing and able to drive 15-passenger vans.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement daily group activities with youth ages 13-18.
  • Transport youth in Club vehicles (school pick-ups, field trips, etc.).
  • Ensure engagement and promote consistent attendance of youth enrolled in activities.
  • Establish rapport with youth and provide mentoring, guidance, and role modeling to support their leadership development, artistic skills, physical activity engagement, and academic progress.
  • Provide active supervision, continually interacting with all members.
  • Submit regular lesson plans, attendance sheets, and other paperwork responsibilities.
  • Plan special events, such as guest speakers, performances, or field trips.
  • Abide by and carry out safety policies and procedures.
  • Attend local trainings.

Salary Range: $15-$17 - DOE
Hours: 25* hours per week- Monday, Thursday, Friday 2:00-6:30pm, Wednesday 12:30-6:30pm, Tuesday 1:30-6:30pm

Youth Development Professionals (YDP) facilitate fun, engaging, and age-appropriate activities for teens from diverse backgrounds. Using our three priority outcomes - academic success, good character and citizenship, and healthy lifestyles - as a guide, Youth Development Professionals run programs, offer support, and ensure that every Club Member has an Optimal Club Experience that sets them up for lifelong success.

Successful YDPs have a passion for serving others and contributing to the well-being of the community at large. Youth Development Professionals have the ability to connect with young people and offer supportive relationships. They are team players willing to do whatever it takes to ensure that Club Members are safe, recognized, and given the opportunity to learn new skills.

Key Roles (Essential Job Responsibilities):

  • Plan and implement daily group activities with youth ages 13-18
  • Transport youth in Club vehicles (school pick-ups, fieldtrips, etc.)
  • Ensure engagement and promote consistent attendance of youth enrolled in activities

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with Club Members, peers, parents, community leaders, etc.
  • Self-motivated, and comfortable with both independent and collaborative processes
