Job summary

Discovery Ranch in Mapleton, Utah, seeks Youth Mentors to work with boys aged 13-18 in a residential setting. You’ll help students develop new skills and personal growth within a supportive team dedicated to healing physically, mentally, and emotionally using traditional and experiential therapies including equine programs.

Responsibilities include supervising routines, leading therapy activities, supporting academics, and documenting progress while fostering a safe, nurturing environment.

Qualifications

• Must pass a background check.
• Must pass motor vehicle record check.
• First Aid & CPR certified (training may be provided).
• Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or counseling is preferred but not required.

• Facilitate experiential activities, group therapy, and outdoor recreation.

• Document behavioral issues and progress.
• Support students and their families.

Job description

Discovery Ranch, a leading residential treatment center for boys aged 13-18 in Utah, is seeking Youth Mentors to join our team. As a Youth Mentor, you will have the opportunity to work with our students, helping them to develop new skills and advance their personal growth. You will be part of a supportive team of experienced professionals who are committed to helping young boys heal mentally, physically, and emotionally. Discovery Ranch combines the power of traditional and experiential therapies, including equine therapy and horsemanship programs, to create a clinically sophisticated, relationship-based setting that promotes growth and healing.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the students' daily routines and chores.
• Attend and facilitate experiential activities, group therapy sessions and outdoor recreational activities.
• Assist students with their academic and extracurricular goals.
• Help manage and document behavioral issues and progress.
• Provide support to students and their families.
• Maintain a safe and positive environment for the students.
• Ensure the physical and emotional safety of all students, and respond to emergencies as needed
• Collaborate with other professionals as part of the treatment team.
• Help teach values such as Responsibility, Grit, Honesty, Respect, Courage, Kindness, and Accountability to students
• Participate in ongoing training and development to maintain a high standard of care for students

Full or part time hours | $16-18/hour Experience Dependent

Swing Shifts:

Monday, Wednesday, & Friday 2:30-11pm + 2 Sundays a month 4-11pm

Tuesday & Thursday 2:30-11pm, Saturday 4-11pm + 2 Sundays a month 4-11pm

Morning Shifts:

Monday, Wednesday, & Friday 7am-3pm + 2 Sundays a months 9am-4pm

Tuesday & Thursday 7am-3pm & Saturday 9am-4pm + 2 Sundays a month 9am-4pm
