Job summary

Midwest Center for Youth and Families is seeking a Mental Health Technician for PRN/Per Diem duties in a 40-hour work week. The role supports a DBT-based program for youth aged 10–18, with schedules including Sundays through Thursdays or Tuesdays through Saturdays. A shift differential applies for evening, night, and weekend shifts.

Per Diem requires 1 weekday and 1 weekend day per biweekly period. Located in Valparaiso and Kouts, IN, this position emphasizes compassionate patient care,

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor degree preferred.
• Prior behavioral health/psychiatric experience required; one year in a psychiatric setting with patients aged 10-18 preferred.
• College students pursuing degrees in behavioral health, psychology, nursing or human services are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment.
• Implement elements of treatment plan and identified interventions to provide quality care.
• Document and communicate client behaviors.
• Follow clinical and unit programming.
• Assist with patient groups and activities.
• Provide DBT skills coaching with patients.
• Maintain therapeutic boundaries and utilize crisis intervention techniques.
