Job summary

Midwest Center for Youth and Families, a subsidiary of UHS, is seeking a Mental Health Technician for PRN/Per Diem work in IN. The center serves youth ages 10-18 with intensive behavioral health and DBT treatment in a 74-bed residential setting with locations in Valparaiso and Kouts.

The role offers opportunities to contribute to a comprehensive care program, work across shifts with premium pay for Sunday-Thursday and Tuesday-Saturday schedules, and participate in crisis intervention and group

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required; Associates or Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • One year of experience working in a psychiatric setting with patients aged 10-18 years preferred.
  • College student who has obtained or are pursuing their degree in behavioral health, psychology, nursing or human services are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment
  • Implement elements of treatment plan and identified interventions to provide quality care
  • Document and communicate client behaviors
  • Follow clinical and unit programming
  • Assist with patient groups and activities
  • Provide DBT skills coaching with patients
  • Maintain therapeutic boundaries and utilize crisis intervention techniques

Mental Health Technician Opportunity - PRN / Per Diem

Midwest Center for Youth and Families (a subsidiary of UHS) has been in operation since 1997, serving youth across the country that are in need of psychiatric treatment for variety of mental health issues. The Midwest Center is a respected healthcare provider, fully accredited, 74-bed private, residential treatment facility with locations in Valparaiso and Kouts, IN. We are dedicated to care of the hearts and minds of our patients with compassion and superior quality behavioral healthcare services through our full‑immersion Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) program for children and adolescents ages 10‑18 who struggle with emotional, behavioral and mental health challenges. The Mental Health Technician (MHT) is a vital part of Midwest Center for Youth and Families' treatment team. This is a full time, 40 hour per week position. Available schedules include every Sunday - Thursday ($2/hr schedule premium for this schedule) and every Tuesday - Saturday ($3/hr schedule premium for this schedule). There is a competitive shift differential for the evening, night, and weekend shifts. Midwest Center is accepting applications for individuals looking for a Per Diem / PRN position. PRN requires working 1 weekday and 1 weekend day per biweekly pay period.
