Job summary

YMCA of the Inland Northwest is seeking a Youth Leader to support after-school and day camp programs in Spokane, WA. You will engage with youth, model YMCA values, and assist with curriculum delivery under the Site Director's guidance.

The role focuses on nurturing relationships with children and families, ensuring safety, and promoting inclusive practices across diverse backgrounds. This is a part-time, on-site position with opportunities to participate in trainings and events.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Register in MERIT system, apply for Portable Background Clearance and fingerprints, and complete program trainings.
• Ten STARS hours must be completed each year.
• Previous experience working with children preferred.
• Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.
• Commitment to inclusion and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
• Proof of MMR vaccination required for this position.

Responsibilities

• Supports the program and activities for the assigned location, traveling to local sites to deliver engaging curriculum for before/after school programs and day camps.
• Supervises and nurtures children, making ADA accommodations where appropriate.
• Promotes YMCA core values: Honesty, Respect, Caring, and Responsibility through child interactions.
• Maintains open dialogue with families about child needs and progress.
• Keeps program site, equipment, and safety standards organized and clean for staff and youth.
• Attends family events and trainings, engaging with staff and participants.
• Follows safety, emergency, and child abuse prevention policies and documents incidents as required.
• Assists with meal/snack preparation, serving, and tracking.
