Job summary

The Oregon Youth Authority is seeking dedicated and skilled cooks to join our team at the MacLaren Youth Correctional Facility in Woodburn, OR. You will prepare nutritious meals, ensure dietary requirements are met, and supervise youth in custody during meal preparation.

This hands-on role emphasizes food safety, inventory records, and kitchen equipment use. You will train youth in cooking and support life skills development, with a 24/7 shift schedule, including overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• One year of cooking experience or a culinary arts certificate.
• Food handler's card required or able to obtain within 30 days of hire.
• Pre-employment checks and suitability to work with youth.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and trains youth in meal preparation and kitchen safety.
• Cooks and coordinates meals per OYA menus and recipes.
• Performs daily cooking tasks using various kitchen equipment.
