Covenant House New York seeks a Housing Navigator Specialist to lead housing navigation efforts for HUD-funded youth programs. You will coordinate referrals, manage a caseload of youths, and secure permanent housing using city, state, or federal vouchers.

Collaborate with program teams, external partners, and landlords to ensure timely housing placements while supporting aftercare and tenant education. Weekend/evening flexibility may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Experience with City FHEPS, Section 8 voucher programs, and other city, state or federal vouchers strongly preferred.
• Excellent written, oral and reading skills required.
• Entrepreneurial and pro-active approach to developing new programs and processes.

Responsabilités

• Maintain a caseload of 20 young adults providing housing services and developing individualized service plans toward permanent housing.
• Provide aftercare referrals to wrap around services including mental health, medical, education and employment support.
• Collaborate with Covenant House NY teams and external providers to meet referrals and enrollment benchmarks.
• Secure permanent housing using Section 8, CityFHEPS, Federal, State or other vouchers.
• Lead training and technical assistance on voucher applications and housing processes.
• Coordinate apartment searches, applications, and move-in processes; escort youth to housing appointments.
• Establish relationships with brokers and landlords; review and sign leases.
• Conduct housing inspections as needed and support tenant rights education.
• Maintain internal tracking and data in CAPS/Soars/ETO systems.
