Job summary

Crossroads YMCA is seeking a Youth & Family Coordinator in the Hobart, Indiana area. The role focuses on creating engaging youth programs and supporting families while providing direct service about 80% of the time. You will supervise shifts, coordinate activities, and help onboarding of new participants.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of related experience.
• Experience working with children and families across diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to create a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and with a team.
• Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.
• Proficiency with Office 365 and YMCA systems.

Responsibilities

• Spend ~80% of time in direct service with children and families.
• Provide shift supervision and ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
• Create a nurturing, safe environment for all participants.
• Lead engaging activities promoting creativity, teamwork, and fun.
• Adapt activities to age, interests, and needs while meeting goals.
• Maintain appropriate staff-to-child ratios.
• Support onboarding of new children and families.
• Assist with planning and implementing youth and family events.
• Train, supervise, and develop program staff and volunteers.
• Recruit, hire, onboard, and develop team members.
• Provide ongoing feedback, coaching, and support.
• Assist with performance evaluations and corrective action.
• Ensure consistent programming and safety procedures.
• Engage with families and support donor engagement.
