Job summary

Seneca Family of Agencies is seeking a Peer Support Specialist to provide peer support and advocacy to youth and families served by its Wraparound program in California. The role emphasizes using lived experience to engage clients, coordinate with a family-driven team, and connect families to community resources to support care plans.

The position is full-time with hybrid service delivery, including in-person and remote documentation, and offers bilingual language proficiency incentives;

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED required.
• Personal, lived experience with relevant systems (e.g., child welfare, juvenile justice, mental health).
• At least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Provide and communicate guidance, expertise, and support for youth, families, and/or any other natural supports one-on-one and in group settings.
• Demonstrate high level engagement and alignment skills to build trust with youth, families, and collateral supports.
• Work as a collaborative advocate to help youth, caregivers, and family members understand mandates and perspectives of other team members.
• Use knowledge of community resources and school systems to help connect families to a safety network.
• Provide coaching and support related to safety/self-control and self-care plans.
• Attend and participate in mental health awareness activities in the community, including peer forums.
• Complete training requirements and participate in weekly supervision.
• Maintain accurate documentation including notes, timesheets, and mileage.
• Participate in on-call rotation if applicable.
• Utilize crisis communication and de-escalation techniques per EQ-4 model.
