Volunteers of America Eastern Washington & Northern Idaho seeks a compassionate Support Staff member for Alexandria’s House, a maternity group home helping young mothers and their children build stability and independent living skills.

The role centers on mentorship, positive youth development, clear boundaries, and daily routines within a housing and family services setting. Training is provided and the team offers supportive collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or GED/HSEC.
  • One year experience working directly with children or two years of post-secondary education.
  • Ability to pass Washington DCYF background check.
  • Strong communication and professionalism.
  • Ability to remain calm and supportive in emotionally complex situations.

Responsibilities

  • Create a welcoming, structured, and respectful home environment
  • Build appropriate rapport with residents while maintaining professional boundaries
  • Support daily routines such as meals, childcare support, chores, and schedules
  • Coach residents through parenting skills, household responsibilities, and life skills
  • Encourage participation in assigned activities and responsibilities
  • Help plan and participate in group activities and special events
  • Monitor the home to ensure safety, cleanliness, and stability
  • Complete required documentation and service notes
  • Work independently during assigned shifts while collaborating with the team
