Boston Public Schools seeks an Afterschool Assistant Facilitator to support the afterschool program under the Afterschool Director and Facilitator. The role focuses on homework help, enrichment, recreation, and fostering positive youth development in a welcoming, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum age: 18 years.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience working with children or youth in an educational, recreational, camp, afterschool, or other youth-serving setting.
• Current authorization to work in the United States. Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment.

Responsibilities

• Support Afterschool Facilitator in delivering engaging daily programming, including homework support, enrichment, recreation, and youth development activities.
• Provide active supervision to ensure the safety and well-being of students during all program activities, transitions, and dismissal.
• Help create a welcoming and inclusive environment that supports the participation and success of all students, including multilingual learners and students with disabilities.
• Build positive relationships with students and support positive behavior through encouragement, engagement, and consistent expectations.
• Support Afterschool Facilitators by preparing materials, setting up activities, and maintaining program spaces.
• Assist Afterschool Facilitators with attendance and required program documentation and reporting.
• Work collaboratively with Afterschool Facilitators and the Afterschool Director to support high-quality programming.
• Participate in required orientation, staff meetings, and ongoing professional development.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
