Job summary

Allegheny County Department of Human Services is seeking a Youth Opportunities Coordinator to work within the Youth Opportunities team, empowering transition-age youth through engagement, programming, and administrative support. The role focuses on promoting DHS offerings, coordinating trainings, and building youth leadership and collaboration.

The position involves coordinating programs such as AMP, Speakers Bureau, and SITY, with a strong emphasis on youth voice and partnership with community

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite, database management).
• Demonstrated ability to work well in teams and lead.
• Demonstrated ability to track progress and outcomes.
• Ability to navigate social media and engage youth.

Responsibilities

• Recruits youth involved with DHS systems; informs them about opportunities through DHS and supports youth participants in these initiatives and keeps them engaged.
• Serves as a liaison between youth, DHS staff and provider staff regarding participation and progress.
• Maintains regular contact with youth (face to face, electronic, via social media) to check progress and provide assistance.
• Maintains social media outlets and other forms of communication to support various projects and youth engagement opportunities.
• Collaborates with DHS colleagues and partners for planning to support youth programming and provide technical assistance as needed.
