Job summary

Pathfinders in Milwaukee, WI seeks a Peer Specialist to bring a youth perspective to RHY and prevention programs under the Drop-in Center Program Manager. The role includes facilitating groups, building connections between youth and staff, and promoting program values to participants.

No prior experience is required beyond completing the agency’s paid staff training. Candidates must have a valid Wisconsin work permit and be able to meet minor labor law schedules.

Qualifications

• No prior experience needed, but youth must be perceived as a positive role model within peer group.
• Candidate must have completed the agency’s required paid staff training program.
• Must have a valid Wisconsin work permit and maintain established work schedule in compliance with Wisconsin labor laws as they relate to minors.
• Current high school enrollment, or high school diploma/GED or equivalent preferred. Required to work on high school diploma/GED or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Assist in facilitating homeless prevention education, social, and supportive groups, and peer facilitator training activities.
• Serve as a connection between adult staff and youth and young adults receiving services, acting as a positive role model.
• Advocate for the program within peer groups and present the program’s values to potential participants.
• Confer with program participants to resolve grievances and promote cooperation.
• Provide administrative and program support as requested.
• Other duties may be assigned.
