Job summary

The City of Anaheim seeks a dynamic Community Services Coordinator to support youth development through research, program design, and outreach for Junior High and High School youth and their families in Anaheim.

Project S.A.Y. provides a range of services including outreach, counseling, education, and leadership development, with no cost to participants. A flexible schedule with some evenings and weekends is required, and bilingual Spanish is highly desirable.

Qualifications

  • 2–3 years of youth development experience in an at-risk setting.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Youth Development, Human Services, Social Work or Counseling is highly desired.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, coordinate and implement youth development programs helping youth build social/emotional, health/physical, cognitive/creative, vocational, and citizenship skills.
  • Provide behavior guidance and para-professional counseling with youth.
  • Offer case management including assessing needs, coordinating service plans, and follow-up on linkage and progress.
  • Monitor client progress, maintain case files and reports, and track outcomes.
  • Conduct school-based prevention/intervention services and assist administrators with tracking and reentry.
  • Perform home assessments and develop service delivery plans with families; conduct conferences with parents as needed.
  • Provide conflict resolution and mediation between youth, families, schools, and community partners.
  • Identify ongoing needs and provide referrals to social services; support youth in accessing resources.
  • Develop youth programs and activities, guiding youths in asset categories such as Support, Empowerment, Boundaries & Expectations, and more.
  • Plan and participate in special events, trainings, and public education efforts; offer bilingual translation as needed.
