Job summary

The Merrimack Valley YMCA is seeking a Group Leader to support youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility through safe, engaging programming. You will work with the Site Coordinator to deliver developmentally appropriate activities, supervise children, and uphold licensing and safety standards.

Ideal candidates are EEC Group Leader qualified, 18+, with a relevant degree or child care experience, and current CPR/First Aid certifications.

Qualifications

  • Must be EEC Group Leader qualified.
  • At least 18 years of age and meeting one of the specified educational/experience combinations.
  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree with experience; or a high school diploma with experience.
  • Nine months of experience with school age children, including three months in a school age program.
  • Relevant education classes in Education or related field preferred.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications must be maintained during employment.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum with Site Coordinator.
  • Ensure program quality meets licensing and QRIS standards and YMCA initiatives.
  • Supervise children, plan lessons, and monitor daily attendance.
  • Prioritize safety and emotional wellbeing of all participants and staff.
  • Maintain classroom cleanliness and appearance; model YMCA core values.
  • Perform other duties as required by supervisor and remain flexible.
