Job summary

YMCA of Greater Kansas City is seeking a Youth Development Leader for the Y Club before and after school program. You will guide elementary children through crafts, sports, and snack time, creating a fun, safe, and supportive environment.

Schedules are weekday mornings 6:30am-9:15am and weekday afternoons after school until 6:00pm Mon-Fri. The hourly rate starts at $15.50, with increases based on experience and education; benefits include free YMCA membership and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 18 and high school diploma or equivalent.
• One year or more of college preferred.
• Previous experience with school age children.
• Ability to work with diverse populations and in a team.
• General understanding of computer technology.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct supervision and lead a group of children in the program.
• Ensure safety and well-being; enforce safety regulations and procedures.
• Implement group activity plan; prepare materials, activities, and environments.
• Model positive interactions and discipline with dignity and respect.
• Adhere to YMCA, licensing and school district rules.
• Positively ID individuals picking-up before releasing children (picture ID).
• Identify emergencies then respond quickly and appropriately.
• Build positive relationships with children, families, school staff, and team members.
• Be prompt and dependable to work scheduled hours; communicate coverage needs.
• Clean and pick up areas used by the program.
• Report suspected abuse immediately as mandated.
