Job summary

YMCA of Greater Kansas City is seeking a Youth Development Leader for our Y Club before and after school program. You’ll supervise a group of elementary-aged children, lead engaging activities, provide homework help, and ensure a safe, positive space for growth.

This part-time role offers flexible mornings and/or afternoons with pay starting at $15.50/hour, and a free YMCA membership. Join a supportive team with ongoing training to help kids thrive.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older and have a high school diploma or equivalent (Kansas sites).
• One year or more of college preferred.
• Experience with school-age children is a plus (babysitting, nannying, camps, etc.).
• Ability to engage with diverse backgrounds and supervise actively.
• Basic computer skills and comfort with technology.
• TB risk assessment and health forms within 30 days (MO).

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise your own group of elementary-aged children during activities.
• Plan and run crafts, games, sports, homework help, and more.
• Keep kids safe by enforcing safety rules and responding to emergencies.
• Guide behavior with firmness and respect for every child.
• Verify photo ID before releasing children at pickup.
• Build positive relationships with kids, families, and YMCA teammates.
• Be dependable for scheduled shifts and follow policies; keep spaces clean.
