Job summary

New York Edge is seeking a part-time Dance Specialist to lead after-school dance activities in Queens. You will design lesson plans, teach youth, and support program goals at after-school sites across New York City’s five boroughs.

The role requires in-person work, experience teaching youth in dance, and strong communication with staff, students, and parents. Compensation is $20–$25 per hour with a part-time schedule.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• College credits and/or degrees are highly preferred.
• Must be knowledgeable and skilled in Dance and have at least one year experience.
• Experience working with children strongly preferred.
• This role requires you to be in-person at work.

Responsibilities

• Build strong relationships with and among students.
• Knowledgeable and skilled in one or more styles of dance and have prior experience successfully teaching and instructing youth in dance.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with program staff, school personnel, parents.
• Teach or co-lead daily activities.
• Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate those objectives to students.
• Support the coordination of program events.
• Administer pre and post-assessments and evaluations for student activities.
• Other duties as assigned.
