Job summary

North Carolina Department of Public Safety seeks a Youth Counselor to supervise court-involved youth, provide counseling and crisis intervention, and support treatment plans. The role requires a bachelor’s degree with two years of related experience and completion of Juvenile Justice Officer training.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and two years of experience with juvenile/family clients.
• Completion of Juvenile Justice Officer Basic Training Certification is required.
• Candidates must pass background checks, drug screening, psychology and related assessments.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and supervise juveniles in custody, school and daily activities.
• Maintain safety, security and accurate incident records and progress notes.
• Work with treatment teams to implement individual and group plans.
• Provide counseling and crisis intervention as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Prepare and document treatment progress toward rehabilitation goals.
