Minnesota Council of Nonprofits seeks a Beacons Center Youth Counselor to provide direct service at the Beacons Learning Center housed in Hmong International Academy under Minneapolis Public Schools / YWCA Minneapolis.

The role focuses on after-school academic and enrichment activities for K-5 students, fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment while enhancing youth decision-making and personal growth. Join a collaborative team committed to community impact.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• One year of experience working with youth from low-income and inner-city families.
• One year of experience planning and facilitating effective, structured groups.
• Strong oral, written and presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365.
• CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain).
• Belief in the mission of the YWCA Minneapolis.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and facilitate age-appropriate educational activities using Youth Development curriculum.
• Support recruitment and retention of program participants.
• Maintain a safe learning environment that is student-centered and inclusive.
• Track attendance and enter data into database.
• Participate in trainings and Beacons program team meetings.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
