  • Life Guard/CPR/First Aid certification within first arranged training.
  • Mandated Reporting Training.
  • High School Diploma/GED; further education in youth fields preferred.
  • Experience working with youth.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Experience servicing Native American clientele and cultural needs.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee activities and events at Community Centers related to the Spokane Tribal 477 Program.

Job description

YOUTH COORDINATOR / COOK

Location: Ford, WA | Status: Regular Full‑time | Pay: $20.00 - $22.74 per hour.
Opening Date: July 21, 2026 | Closing Date: Open Until Filled.

The Spokane Tribe of Indians Tribal 477 Program exists to promote and support Tribal Youth and their families so they can reach their full potential as healthy, productive, and self‑sufficient individuals. The program is delivered in a way that protects and benefits Tribal children, respects and preserves their culture, values, and traditions, and provides families with access and input into a full range of services that promote self‑esteem, independence, and self‑sufficiency.

The Youth Coordinator(s) will oversee all associated activities and events at the Community Center(s) that relate to the Spokane Tribal 477 Program. The Youth Program Manager will facilitate the coordination of services to the Communities by working collaboratively with the Coordinators, other Service Providers, and Community Members.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required for Position
  • Knowledge of extracurricular activities related to physical, cultural, and mental development.
  • Advanced swimming skills.
  • Knowledge of Native American culture and traditions.
  • Flexibility and ability to work in rapidly changing environments.
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, holidays, irregular hours, and overnight stays.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision and occasionally as a team member.
  • Ability to follow directions in all formats.
  • Practice confidentiality, tact, courtesy, and discretion.
  • Multi‑tasking capability.
  • Ability to handle minimal to extreme physical activity at any given time.
  • Public speaking and facilitation of group settings.
  • Knowledge of computer applications, copiers, fax, projectors, etc.
  • Knowledge of community programs providing youth services.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be 18 years or older for on‑reservation site; 23 years or older for off‑reservation site.
  • Valid Washington State Driver’s License and tribally insurable.
  • Successfully cleared a criminal background inquiry.
  • Ability to obtain a Food Handler’s Card within the first week of employment.
  • Ability to become certified in Life Guard/CPR/First Aid within the first arranged training.
  • Mandated Reporting Training.
  • High School Diploma/GED required; additional consideration for extended education in youth or related fields.
  • Experience working with youth.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Previous experience working with Native American clientele and understanding cultural needs.
