Job summary

Houston Zoo, Inc. seeks a senior leader to mentor conservation education staff and advance programs empowering teens and early career professionals in wildlife protection.

The role directs domestic and international youth travel initiatives, ensures youth safety through robust procedures, and promotes an inclusive learning culture across the Greater Houston area. Requires travel with passport.

Qualifications

• Five years of relevant conservation education experience.
• Four years in a leadership or management role.
• CPR/First Aid and Wilderness First Responder certifications.
• Exceptional communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to travel internationally with passport.

Responsibilities

• Manage and evaluate audience-focused conservation education programs, including teen initiatives.
• Direct domestic and international youth travel programs with field partners.
• Ensure youth safety through procedures and staff training.
• Lead staff development, recruitment, and performance management.
• Collaborate across departments to align education initiatives and outcomes.
• Develop and implement program budgets and scheduling.
