Job summary

The Child Center of NY is seeking a Youth Advocate to support adolescents' social and personal development. You will guide youth in academic, vocational and personal goals, serving as a mentor and role model.

Daily activities include implementing SEL/College/Career skill-building curricula, conducting individual and small group sessions, planning school activities, and supporting students' progress through motivational interviewing.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalency.
• Bachelor's degree (Preferred).
• Bilingual in one or more languages may be required depending on client/location needs.
• Ability to plan and carry out assignments independently.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Implement SEL/College/Career skill-building curriculum and research-based assessment.
• Develop academic and social emotional goals with students using Motivational Interviewing techniques.
• Conduct ongoing individual and small group sessions with youth to build SEL skills and support academic achievement.
• Plan student activities such as school tours, trips, and events related to College & Career development.
• Mentor activities and assess youths' progress toward goals and objectives.
• Be aware of popular culture and trends to connect with students.
• Demonstrate as a perfect role model.
• Attend related professional development opportunities to build skills.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
