Job summary

The Child Center of NY strengthens children and families with skills, opportunities, and emotional support to build healthy, successful lives. This role provides career counseling and assessments to youth with mental health conditions, building relationships with local businesses to develop internships and help clients gain employment.

It conducts Career Club groups for ages 16-24 and reports directly to the program Supervisor.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field is required.
• 1 year of experience providing counseling, employment services or job development services to young adults.
• Experience developing working relationships with businesses and agencies to secure job/internship placements preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct individualized assessments and internship placements.
• Develop natural supports in the workplace, retention and transition strategies, job coaching, financial literacy.
• Match youth with employment sites within their capabilities and interests.
• Maintain frequent communication with employers to provide supports and assess job performance.
• Develop job and internship opportunities and maintain a network of employers for ASC youth placements.
• Conduct weekly career club groups and related services to support career goals.
• Complete documentation in line with regulations and maintain progress notes and service plans.
• Coordinate placement of JobNet clients into internships and monitor progress.
• Maintain a database of potential worksites and outreach to engage enrolled clients.
