Job summary

Gateway Community Action is seeking a Career Development Specialist to work with high school students in the WIOA area, helping them explore career options and develop a detailed plan after graduation.

You will collaborate with Business Service Consultants, employers, Chambers of Commerce, and other partners to bring real-world opportunities to students, including internships and pre-apprenticeships where possible.

Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree is required, preferably in Social Work, Education, Business Administration or a related field.
• Experience in workforce development is a plus.
• Candidates must complete and pass all requirements to work in the Kentucky Education System.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and facilitate assessments to students for use in detailed career plans.
• Proctor use of virtual reality equipment to help students gain knowledge on available careers.
• Help guide students through creating a detailed career plan, with action steps needed to obtain goals.
• Develop and maintain relationships with multiple partners, including parents, employers, and school staff.
• Work with WIOA staff to help place students into internships and pre-apprenticeships.
• Plan and facilitate workshops focusing on workforce development skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication.
• Knowledge of social media platforms and adaptability to changing platforms.
