Job summary

NC Community Colleges seeks a Career Navigator to provide case management and career counseling to Youth WIOA participants in the Wilmington, NC area. You will support employment advancement and document activities in NCWorks Online, coordinating with staff and funding agencies.

The role requires strong organizational skills, data management, and bilingual Spanish abilities as a plus. You will work at the NCWorks Career Center and train to deliver integrated services.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree and two years of experience managing data and customer interactions
• Or an appropriate combination of education and/or experience
• Knowledge of WIOA policies and procedures
• Ability to prioritize tasks and document visits and contacts
• Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
• Demonstrate telephone, computer and written communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications

Responsibilities

• Provide case management and career counseling to Youth WIOA program participants.
• Provide support in gaining and retaining employment and career advancement.
• Create an application in the NCWorks system for customers who have provided all required documents.
• Scan documents into NCWorks to ensure eligibility materials are uploaded.
• Determine customer eligibility, provide program orientation, complete objective assessment and individualized employment plan.
• Build professional one-on-one relationships to help remove barriers to employment.
• Provide referrals to appropriate community service or social service agencies.
• Encourage participation in planned activities as outlined in the contract with the funding agency.
• Oversee participant activities and assist with workshop schedules.
• Create solutions to attendance problems and maintain organized databases of customers.
• Share information with staff and funding agencies; document all contacts in NCWorks Online.
• Ensure positive outcomes and goals are met as required by contract; coordinate with team to increase engagement.
• Serve as staff in the NCWorks Career Center and cross-train to support Integrated Service Delivery.
• Maintain participant files as specified by contractor.
