Job summary

CAMBA in New York City seeks an Advocate Counselor to support students and families within the LTW program. You will conduct intake, maintain files, connect students with community resources, and monitor attendance and progress through Enginuity and Excel reporting.

This full-time, 35-hour-per-week role requires a Bachelor's in social work or related field, strong written and verbal skills, and comfort working in a public school environment. Bilingual preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in social work or related field.
• Ability to adapt to the culture and environment of a public school.
• Ability to write assessments, student goals, progress notes, weekly reports, and general correspondence.
• Ability to apply basic math to practical situations.
• Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, internet, and database software.

Responsibilities

• Maintain professional relationships with students and student confidentiality.
• Conduct initial intake and assessment of students and families' situations and needs.
• Create and maintain student files.
• Assist students in locating community resources and make referrals.
• Track student attendance daily.
• Reach out to absent students daily.
• Follow-up with students and referral organizations regarding progress.
• Counsel students regularly in CAMBA offices, by phone or home visits.
• Work with students to overcome barriers to goals and advocate for themselves.
• Enter required data into Enginuity and create narrative case notes.
• Keep an Excel monthly report spreadsheet of services provided.
• Provide information for reports and may facilitate workshops.
