Qualifications

  • Two years direct care experience working with children.
  • Experience in a residential or mental health treatment setting is preferred.
  • Must provide proof of immunizations.

  • Conduct routine checks and provide direct services to maintain a staff/client ratio.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

The Youth Care Worker is a non-exempt position responsible for the well-being and safety of children at the Unaccompanied Children Program.

  • Be aware of children’s whereabouts, maintain wellness and accountability reports; conduct routine checks at the following intervals: 30-minute, 15-minute, or 1:1 checks
  • Be a supportive and positive role model for the development of social and other skills for all children
  • Observe and assist children at meals and snack times, especially those with diet restrictions
  • Keep the Shift Lead informed of changes in the appearance of behavior of the children, needed supplies, and any areas of concern
  • Assist as necessary with daily living activities, doctor appointments, outings, and case management
  • Transport clients to and from outings, activities, between building's floors, and to appointments
  • Respond to emergencies and provide crisis intervention
  • Ensure and safeguard the human and legal rights of those in the program
  • Provide direct services to children to ensure a staff/client ratio is maintained in accordance with ORR regulations.
  • Record behavior and interactions of the children with staff and peers; monitor and supervise children 1:1 or conduct frequent checks
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

  • $18.44 per hour PLUS $.50 per hour for working during 2nd shift hours and $1.00 per hour for working overnight and weekend hours.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • High School diploma or equivalent and two (2) years direct care experience working with children.
  • Experience in a residential or mental health treatment setting is preferred.
  • Bilingual skills required in clients spoken languages, Haitian Creole, French, Spanish
  • Must provide proof of Immunization for Varicella (2 doses), MMR (2 doses), Influenza (1 dose yearly), and Tdap (1 dose).
  • Must have a valid drivers' license with auto insurance coverage.
