Caminos Program: 2,000.00 Bonus for Bilingual Candidates. Back End 2nd Shift: Full Time Only

  • Wednesday 12:00 PM – 10:00 PM
  • Thursday 2:00 PM – 11:00 PM
  • Friday 2:00 PM – 11:00 PM
  • Saturday 11:00 PM – 8:00 PM

The Youth Care Professional (YCP) provides 24/7 direct care and supervision to youth in a trauma-informed residential treatment setting. YCPs ensure safety, model healthy relationships, support daily routines, and uphold empathy, consistency, and respect within professional boundaries. You will be trained in crisis prevention and intervention and work with clinical, education, and medical teams.

Essential Functions

Direct Care & Supervision
  • Provide 24/7 line-of-sight/sound and/or enhanced supervision based on clinical guidance.
  • Ensure a physically and emotionally safe environment in line with trauma-informed practices.
  • Assist youth with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including hygiene, grooming, and meals. Meal preparation is required according to the menu, as applicable.
  • Provide a safe and calm treatment environment by implementing structured milieu routines, individualized care plans, age-appropriate expectations, and positive behavior supports aligned with PBIS.
  • Support and reinforce methods used by clinical staff and participate in treatment of residents, including interaction, limit setting, and safety/treatment plans.
  • Provide mandatory on-call coverage and flexibility to work various shifts; may cover other program areas.
  • Participate in family engagement events on-site, in the community, or at the family home, as applicable.
Therapeutic Engagement
  • Utilize program-approved techniques to build trusting, youth-guided relationships aligned with Everstand’s Theory of Change.
  • Facilitate individual and group programming (e.g., social skills, communication, conflict resolution, resilience, and creative expression).
  • Support academic participation, extracurricular exploration, and life skills development.
  • Maintain professional boundaries to ensure appropriate therapeutic relationships.
Documentation & Communication
  • Accurately complete shift documentation, logs, incident reports, medication records (MAR), and summaries.
  • Maintain timely, confidential, and professional communication with team members and supervisors.
  • Obtain and maintain user-level access to Everstand’s electronic health record system.
Health & Safety
  • Administer and document medication following program guidelines (with certification).
  • Safely transport youth to medical, educational, and legal appointments using agency vehicles.
  • Respond to behavioral escalations using Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) methods when necessary.
  • Participate in hospital coverage and intake/discharge transportation as needed.
Housekeeping & Environment
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of the unit and involve youth in upkeep per protocol.
  • Monitor maintenance needs or safety hazards through on-site inspections.
  • Promote youth engagement, conduct bedroom checks, searches, and supervision per policy every fifteen minutes while youth are in their rooms.
  • Complete and document inventories of resident belongings at admission, discharge, quarterly, after overnight family visits, and after purchasing new items.
Compliance & Confidentiality
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive youth information.
  • Follow HIPAA, state regulations, and organizational policies for data handling and communication.
  • Fulfill mandated reporter responsibilities by promptly reporting suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation per guidelines.

Required Education and Experience
  • Level I – Youth Care Professional: High School Diploma, GED, or AA with at least 1 year of child welfare/related experience.
  • Level II – Youth Care Professional (Advanced): Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, education, or related field.
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Experience in youth services, behavioral health, or trauma-informed settings preferred. Comfort working in emotionally intense environments. Firsthand understanding of child welfare and human services, beneficial for responsive, inclusive programming.
Licenses/Certifications
  • Valid driver’s license; background checks (CPS, fingerprinting), drug screening, TB, and physical readiness; TCI or First Aid/CPR and Medication Administration certifications; Maryland RCYCP certification eligibility; ORR suitability determination eligibility.
Bilingual Differential
  • Bilingual candidates may be eligible for a language differential based on program needs and proficiency.
Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. Occasional exposure to residential and school environments with challenging behaviors may occur. Exposure to intense emotional environments requires vigilance, adaptability, and resilience.

Physical Demands

Must be able to engage in physical intervention techniques when trained; may need to lift up to 25 pounds and perform various movements as part of duties.

Position Type / Hours

Full-time, non-exempt. Monday through Sunday (morning, evening, overnight), typically 33–40 hours per week. Back End 2nd Shift schedule applies as listed above.

Travel

Local travel for appointments or cross-site coverage may be required. Mileage reimbursement or agency vehicle provided for approved travel.
