Job summary

AMIkids in Clinton, SC is seeking a Youth Care Specialist to supervise and guide youth, teaching social, self-help, academic and living skills. You will provide a safe environment and act as a positive role model, using behavior-modification strategies to support youth growth.

Shifts include 2nd and 3rd, with weekends on rotation; CPR/First Aid and crisis intervention training are required. This is a full-/part-time role with opportunities for professional development within AMIkids.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED (degree preferred).
• Minimum one-year related experience within an educational or youth service program, preferably working with troubled youth.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety and supervision of all youth in accordance with operational and contractual requirements.
• Serve as advisor and positive role model for youth in the program.
• Prevent and intervene in youth altercations and incidents using state mandated training methods.
• Effectively use the Behavior Modification System by providing redirection and coaching to youth.
• Coach and advise youth to grow in personal responsibility, social skills, and living skills.
• Supervise youth during overnight shifts and conduct bed checks per schedule.
• Implement AMIkids Way and Positive Youth Development elements in all interactions with students.
• Ensure interactions reflect Kids First, Safety, Family, relationships, and community involvement.
• Maintain a safe environment conducive to learning and progress toward individualized goals.
• Notify management immediately of problems/incidents and communicate with team.
• Complete incident, accident, and behavioral reports; document notes in Shift Log; communicate at shift changes.
• Ensure facility, equipment and supplies comply with laws, regulations, and policies; maintain repair logs.
• Attend CPR and First Aid certification; administer first aid during emergencies per national standards.
• Attend crisis intervention and physical restraint training as required by state and contract.
