Job summary

Andrus Childrens Center is seeking an entry-level Direct Support Professional to help maintain a safe, therapeutic living environment for children in care. You will provide close supervision and support during cottage activities as part of a multidisciplinary team.

The role includes day and overnight shifts, implementing safety plans, trauma-informed care, and participating in structured programming to build skills and self-esteem. Training and a valid driver’s license are a plus.

Qualifications

• CPR/First Aid certification preferred; in-service trainings mandatory.
• Willing to train right candidate.
• Valid driver’s license in good standing for a minimum of 3 years is a plus.
• Computer proficient; able to navigate Microsoft Office.
• Multilingual abilities are a plus; helpful in a diverse setting.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety of residents and cottage community.
• Actively supervise residents according to age and ability.
• Participate with residents in scheduled activities.
• Execute program schedule on time and as written.
• Apply Sanctuary principles and trauma-sensitive care.
• Utilize TCIs to prevent crises and manage crises safely.
• Follow Safety Plans and ICMPs to guide treatment.
• Collaborate with the team and communicate effectively.
• Facilitate smooth transitions between activities.
• Arrive punctually and meet leave/presentation expectations.
• Support the organization’s strategic goals and values.
