Job summary

Integrated Services for Behavioral Health in southeastern Ohio is seeking a CANS Assessment Associate to conduct comprehensive assessments for children, adolescents, and transitional‑age youth in virtual, home, school, and community settings.

The role partners with families, providers, and community resources to connect youth with services, maintain accurate documentation in EHR and CANS portals, ensure HIPAA compliance, and travel across designated areas.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ohio CANS certification or ability to certify within 21 days.
• 2–3 years of experience in community mental health, child welfare, or related human services.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive CANS assessments for children, adolescents, and transitional-age youth (birth through age 21) in virtual, home, school, and community settings.
• Build and maintain knowledge of OhioRISE referral pathways and specialty program offerings including 1915C waivers, YFC/Ifast/IHBT, and QRTP requests.
• Maintain accurate, timely records in the EHR and CANS portal in accordance with agency, state, and OhioRISE requirements.
• Collaborate with clinical staff, families, and community partners to translate assessment findings and next steps.
• Build and maintain collaborative relationships with referral systems, community partners and collateral agents involved in the CANS or OhioRISE umbrella of care.
• Utilize databases and Electronic Health Record systems for accurate client documentation.
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA, mandated reporting requirements, and professional ethical guidelines.
• Travel within designated service areas.
• All other duties as assigned.
