Job summary

Integrated Services for Behavioral Health in southeastern Ohio seeks a CANS Assessment Associate to perform comprehensive CANS assessments for children, adolescents, and transitions‑age youth in virtual, home, school, and community settings.

You will coordinate with families, clinicians, and partners, document findings, ensure HIPAA compliance, and help connect youth to appropriate services and OhioRISE pathways, including waivers and QRTP related programs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ohio CANS certification or ability to certify within the first 21 days of employment.
• 2–3 years of experience in community mental health, child welfare, or related human services setting.
• Advanced communication skills, both oral and written.
• Advanced organizational skills.
• Knowledge of child and adolescent behavioral health, trauma‑informed care, and family systems.
• Ability to bill Medicaid without restrictions.
• Ability to maintain confidential information.
• Ability to adhere to safety rules, regulations and requirements.
• Knowledge of Medicaid regulations and compliance requirements.
• Access to reliable transportation.
• A valid driver’s license and ability to operate a motor vehicle.
• Appropriate level of auto insurance coverage.
• Ability to manage deadlines in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment.
• Ability to operate in an Internet‑based, automated office environment.
• Ability to maintain high‑speed internet connection.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive CANS assessments for children, adolescents, and transitional‑age youth (birth through age 21) in virtual, home, school, and community settings.
• Build and maintain knowledge of OhioRISE referral pathways and program offerings.
• Maintain accurate, timely records in the EHR and CANS portal.
• Collaborate with clinical staff, families, and community partners to translate assessment findings and next steps.
• Build and maintain relationships with referral systems and collateral agents involved in CANS or OhioRISE care.
• Utilize databases and EHR systems for accurate client documentation.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and professional ethical guidelines.
• Travel within designated service areas.
• All other duties as assigned.
