Job summary

DeKalb Health in Andover, KS seeks a Lead Camp Program Instructor to direct staff in setup, execution and wrap-up of camp activities per the program plan. You will keep to the schedule and lead activities as a coach and referee, ensuring a safe environment for the youth.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 15 hours academic credit or 6 months experience with school-age children.
• Lead Lifeguards must have lifeguard certifications and 3 years lifeguarding experience.
• Lead Tower/Ropes requires Alpine Tower Training/Ropes certification and 2 years experience.
• Lead Wranglers require 2 years’ field experience and/or horse certification.

Responsibilities

• Direct program staff in set-up, execution and clean-up of camp activities.
• Lead camp activities as coach and referee while ensuring safety.
• Refer behavioral issues to Camp Counselor and direct supervisor.
• Maintain program calendar and contribute content for social media.
• Be actively engaged with campers and staff to model positive behavior.
• Document incidents and communicate concerns to supervisor promptly.
• Oversee equipment, inventory, and supply requests.
• Follow KDHE and YMCA standards and coordinate with supervisors.
