Job summary

DeKalb Health is seeking a Camp Counselor to support licensed camp programs. You will serve as a positive role model for youth, lead age-appropriate activities, and help ensure a safe, engaging environment.

Responsibilities include supervising activities, building relationships with participants, and collaborating with staff. The role requires reliable attendance, teamwork, and strong communication with youth and families.

Qualifications

• Experience working with school-age children.
• Lifeguards must have relevant qualifications if applicable.
• Tower/Ropes/Alpine Tower Training certifications may be required.

Responsibilities

• Attend all mandatory staff meetings and in‑service hours.
• Support and participate in scheduled program activities and supervise routines.
• Engage with youth to build relationships and promote positive behavior.
• Set and maintain age-appropriate limits using positive reinforcement.
• Guide youth through conflicts toward positive solutions.
• Communicate with supervisor about issues and training needs.
