Sandy City Recreation Center is seeking a Youth Camp Counselor I in Sandy, Utah. This part-time, non-benefitted position offers a starting hourly salary of $13.42 to $21.47, with applications accepted while the position remains open.

Under the supervision of the Recreation Coordinator-Youth Programs, you will organize and supervise youth activities, communicate effectively, and help maintain materials, equipment, and safety while engaging children in games, sports, arts and crafts, storytelling

Qualifications

• Experience in youth programs or related activities preferred.
• Must be at least 16 years old.
• English literacy skills to care for children and respond to emergencies.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

Responsibilities

• Organize and supervise youth programs and participants.
• Communicate effectively verbally and in writing with participants, staff and the public.
• Care for materials, equipment and money responsibly; supervise activities and use of facilities.
• Follow written and verbal instructions and ensure safety and order during camp activities.

• STATUS: Part-time (non-benefitted)
• CLOSING DATE: Open until filled. Department will begin reviewing applications on October 13, 2026. Position may close at any time after this date. Applications will continue to be accepted as long as the position remains open on the website.

CPR and First Aid certification preferred. Knowledge of games, sports, recreation, activities, arts and crafts, storytelling and music; correct English usage, spelling and vocabulary. Great responsibility for the care, condition and use of materials, equipment, money, tools, etc. Communicate effectively verbally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with participants, employees, staff and the public; contacts requiring tact and judgment to avoid friction and obtain desired result; outside contact with public presenting information. English literacy skills to care for children and respond to emergencies. Regular use of a copy machine and telephone; occasional use of a personal computer. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
