Job summary

YMCA of the Suncoast seeks a Behavior Specialist to support Pinellas School Age Programs. You will work with children, staff, families and school district staff to address challenging behaviors in summer camps, before/after care and Kids Zones, identifying needs and planning effective opportunities.

You will coach staff, provide parent resources, and create a nurturing, safe environment while reporting on referred children to the Director of Training & Support.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in related field preferred (Psychology, Special Education).
• Minimum of 2 years' experience working with children. CPR/First Aid required.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with children, staff, families and school district personnel to support participants with challenging behaviors.
• Identify areas of need and develop plans to implement opportunities for youth and training/coaching for staff.
• Provide staff development opportunities and modeling on effective behavior strategies.
• Provide parent support and resources for community services.
• Create a nurturing and safe environment by reporting suspicious activity that may lead to child abuse or code of conduct violations.
