Job summary

YMCA of South Florida is seeking a Behavior Specialist / Behavior Assistant Counselor to oversee day-to-day group programming and behavior management in a licensed childcare/day camp setting. Under the direction of the Site Supervisor, you will supervise activities, track progress, and report incidents.

You will work closely with facility staff to ensure safety, deliver nutritious snacks, and follow emergency procedures.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Two years’ experience including one year direct contact with children with special needs.
• Ability to relate to children.
• Must be at least eighteen (18) at the time of hire.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Demonstrated competency in planning and implementing recreational and educational activities.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and implement activities for a group of children per licensing guidance.
• Document behavior issues and incidents daily as needed.
• Conduct daily health checks of each child and report concerns.
• Maintain safety and cleanliness of program areas and equipment.
• Attend staff meetings and training opportunities.
• Adhere to mandated reporting requirements for child abuse and neglect.
